Charlotte, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University women's basketball team dominated Virginia Union University throughout en route to a 66-41 conference win on Monday evening inside Brayboy Gymnasium. JCSU improves to 12-1 overall and 5-1 in the CIAA, while the Lady Panthers remain winless at 0-11 overall and 0-4 in the conference.
J.C. Smith held a commanding 27-3 lead halfway through the first period. VUU trailed 43-23 at halftime after committing 20 turnovers. JCSU led by 20 plus point lead for the entire second half. Junior guard Terran Quattlebaum (Mitchellville, MD) had a game-high 19 points with three rebounds and two assists. Junior guard LaQwesha Gamble (Winter Haven, FL) produced 13 points and eight boards, shooting 75% from the floor (6-8). Freshman forward Racquel Davis (Bamberg, Germany) was a burst of energy off the bench with nine points and seven rebounds.
JCSU shot 38% from the field (24-63) and outscored Virginia Union 33-8 off turnovers.
Tiffany Clarke and Alaura Jones paced the Lady Panthers with 14 and 12 points, respectively.
The Lady Golden Bulls jump back into conference action on Thursday, January 20th against Bowie State University. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. inside Brayboy Gymnasium.
