Charlotte, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University women's basketball team eased by Livingstone College in an 82-50 CIAA Southern Divisional win on Saturday evening inside a packed Brayboy Gymnasium. JCSU improves to 14-1 overall, 7-1 in the CIAA, 1-0 in the division; while winning their third straight game. The Lady Blue Bears move to 9-4 overall, 4-2 in the conference and start divisional play at 0-1.
J.C. Smith dominated this contest against their nearby, divisional rival from beginning to end. Livingstone trailed 45-22 at halftime. Johnson C. Smith led by as much as 33 last in the second half. The Lady Golden Bulls controlled the post, outscoring LC 40-20 inside the paint. Freshman forward
Racquel Davis (Bamberg, Germany) spearheaded the effort with a team-high 15 points and five rebounds, off 6-of-7 shooting (85.7%) from the floor.
Davis not only scored a season-high 15 in 11 minutes of play, she marks the ninth different player as the leading scorer in a single game. Junior guard
LaQwesha Gamble (Winter Haven, FL) set a new career-high in rebounds; with a 20 rebound, 13 point double-double. Fellow junior guard
Shavonda Price (Ft. Wayne) contributed with 13 points, five rebounds, and three steals.
JCSU shot 47% (31-66) from the field, compared to 21.9% shooting from the Lady Blue Bears.

April Smith (Auburn, AL) emerged with nine points, seven boards, and three steals.
Cassaundra Rhodes paced the Livingstone scoring with 13 points and two blocks. Livingstone head coach Angelyne Brown is 0-5 versus Johnson C. Smith.
“It was important that we started out fast tonight; this is a big rival game, in our division, and we needed to attack early,” said head coach
Vanessa Taylor. “It was good to see LaQwesha (Gamble) get back in her flow of the game and Racquel (Davis) really helped us expose a scoring path in the paint.”
