Triad, NC -- The Carolina Cheetahs have finalized the roster of players for the 2011-2012 American Basketball Association (ABA) league. Former Johnson C. Smith University men's basketball standout Ryan Scott was announced as one of the 15 players on the final roster.

The team consists of some of this area's finest up and coming players. The Cheetahs have gathered some of the most athletic, exciting talent this area has seen. From Division I Appalachian State's Kellen Brand, and Jeremy Clayton, Old Dominion's Marsharee Neely, High Point University's Landon Quick and NCA&T's Robert Johnson. Professional players Damien Goodman, Terrance Jones, and Quenton Goods, improve the Triad's professional basketball team. The Cheetahs roster consists of highly touted professional players that have completed college and had experience playing at the next level. Due to the NBA lockout, many of our players are on the verge of signing Professional European basketball contracts but will keep improving under the philosophy of Wells.
Ryan Scott

Ryan Scott was a member of back-to-back (2008-09) CIAA championship teams at JCSU. In his last season (2009) he led the Golden Bulls in scoring and led the conference in three point shots. Scott earned All-CIAA, All-Tournament, and All-Atlantic Regional honors during his senior season. He recorded 1,161 points, 209 assists, 136 steals, and shot 71.6% from the free throw line in three seasons as a Golden Bull.

In addition, Scott has an NBA pedigree. His father, Dennis, was one of the most prolific three point shooters in NBA history with the Orlando Magic.

The Cheetahs are coached by Tim Wells, former NC State player and Winston-Salem State assistant basketball coach. Tim was employed last season as Head Coach at KK Triland, a professional basketball team in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Wells led the Triland team to an undefeated regular season record (10-0).  With a record of (14-1), Wells was named League “Coach of the Year” after coming back to the triad area with the Championship.

This team will represent the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina in the upcoming season.
