Trevin Parks had a game-high 32 points in the win over the Yellow Jackets
Charlotte, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University men's basketball team dominated West Virginia State University 87-63 in non-conference action on Monday evening inside Brayboy Gymnasium. JCSU improves to 4-4 overall, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 4-5 in the standings.

Trevin Parks (Hickory, NC) controlled the pace throughout the first half. Parks scored 19 first half points off 6-of-8 shooting from the field. He stroked five of his seven three point attempts, which contributed to a 40-23 JCSU lead at the break.
The Golden Bulls shot 38.7% (12-31) from the floor in the opening. Junior guard
Phillip Wood (Suitland, MD) provided additional scoring with 14 points in the first. Wood was on target for 50% (2-4) of his shots beyond the arc.
JCSU held a double digit advantage for the entire second frame. The lead got down to 12 with 9:34 on the clock. The Golden Bulls responded with an 8-2 scoring run to strangle out WVSU.
Johnson C. Smith had a .680 shooting percentage (17-25) in the second half. Four finished with double figures in points for the Golden Bulls.
Parks recorded a game-high 32 points, shooting 10-of-14 from the field. He hit a season-high six three pointers and grabbed two boards. Wood produced 22 points with a perfect 7-of-7 from the foul line. Sophomore forward

Delonta Boyd (Washington, D.C.) had 10 points and two rebounds in 13 minutes of play. Boyd fouled out for the fourth time this season. Senior guard
James Otey (Roanoke, VA) benefited from all the scoring with 10 assists and four rebounds.
David Ford led the Yellow Jackets with 22 points and five rebounds. WVSU shot 38% (19-50) from the field.
The Golden Bulls break for the holidays before participating in the Subway Holiday Tournament. JCSU will face Quincy University on December 30th at 7:00 p.m. in Quincy, Illinois.
