– The Johnson C. Smith University women's tennis team was dealt a 9-0 loss by Catawba College on Friday afternoon at the Johnson Tennis Center on Catawba's campus. JCSU moves to 1-6 in the standings, while the Indians improve to 6-4.

After defeats in No. 1 and No. 2 doubles play, JCSU pushed Catawba in the third match. Junior Camille Allen (Teaneck, NJ) and sophomore Samantha Barnes (Hampton, VA) eventually fell in the final doubles match 8-4 to Hannah Kovach and Candace Hall.

Catawba continued to be dominant in singles action. Junior Rolanda Sue (Charlotte, NC) dropped the No. 3 singles match to Nicole Boyles (6-1, 6-3) and sophomore Margaret Jones (Newport News, VA) was unsuccessful at the No. 6 singles spot (6-1, 7-6). The other singles matches had a largest scoring disparity.

The Golden Bulls will challenge another non-conference opponent in Wingate University on Thursday, February 17th. Match play is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. at the Wingate Tennis Courts.
