Charlotte, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University women's softball team fell in both games of a non-conference doubleheader against Concord University (20-0, 8-4) on Sunday afternoon inside Biddleville Park. JCSU moves to 0-8 overall, while the Lady Mountain Lions improve to 4-4 in the standings.
J.C. Smith dug a deep hole for themselves after allowing nine runs in the second inning of game one. Infield errors and delayed reactions by Johnson C. Smith resulted in a 20-0 win for Concord in the fifth inning due to the NCAA eight-run rule.

Kawehi Chan (Honolulu, HI) was charged with loss, her third of the season.
The Lady Golden Bulls came out firing in game two, forcing two lead changes. Senior utility

Concord erased the 2-1 JCSU lead in the third inning. The Lady Mountain Lions produced three hits and three runs, including a 2-RBI shot from Kaitlyn Williams. J.C. Smith moved ahead again in the fourth inning with two runs. Senior left fielder

With the scored tied 4-4 heading into the fifth, JCSU unfortunately had a breakdown. The Lady Golden Bulls gave up six hits and four runs in the fifth for an 8-4 deficit. Neither team scored another run and Concord picked up the victory.

Tenesha Simmons (Melbourne, FL) earned her second loss of the season.
