Smith University and St. Augustine's College will be played on Saturday, February 12th inside Emery Gymnasium in Raleigh, NC. The women's game will tip off at 2:00 p.m. and the men's game is scheduled to 4:00 p.m.
Both Johnson C. Smith teams enter this contest off division wins over Fayetteville State. The Lady Golden Bulls beat FSU 86-58 and are currently in 1st place in the Southern Division at 19-1 overall, 12-1 CIAA, and 5-0 division. St. Augustine's fell in their last contest to Winston Salem State by a narrow margin (70-69) and move to 5th in the division. The Lady Falcons are 12-9 overall, 6-5 conference, and 1-4 in the division.
On the men's side, the Golden Bulls bounced back off a losing slide with an 89-79 victory against the FSU Broncos. JCSU is a game above St. Augustine's in the division with a 2-3 record. J.C. Smith is 13-7 overall and 9-3 in the CIAA after beating out the Northern Division this season. Johnson C. Smith has played in patches; winning their first two games, then losing the next four, followed by a 10-game winning streak, and then losing three straight.
The Falcons enters this ball game 6-14 overall, 4-7 in the CIAA, and 1-4 in the Southern. St. Augustine's has lost their last four, including a 61-54 loss to Winston Salem State. With five games remaining in the season (all divisional), JCSU still have a chance at first in the Southern.
The women's team looks to extend their winning streak to nine, while the men's team looks to spark another streak at two.
