Football schedule adjustment

Charlotte, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University football team has scheduled West Virginia State University as their 2011 home-season opening opponent on Saturday, September 3rd. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. inside the Irwin Belk Complex on McGirt Field.

JCSU will face the Yellow Jackets of West Virginia State on the gridiron for the first time since 1946. These two teams have met six times with an even record of 2-2-2; dating back to 1940. West Virginia State competes in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) and concluded 2010 with a winless season (0-10).

The Golden Bulls were originally scheduled to play St. Paul's College in the season opener. However with the discontinuation of St. Paul's Athletic Department for the 2011-12 season; this is the newly scheduled replacement contest.
