Box Score vs. Livingstone
Charlotte, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University women's volleyball team fell short 3-1 (25-22, 18-25, 25-19, 25-22) against Livingstone College in a CIAA Southern Divisional match on Monday evening inside Brayboy Gymnasium. JCSU moves to 4-12 overall and 2-8 in the CIAA, while the Lady Blue Bears improve to 6-8 overall and 5-4 in the conference.
All four sets were tightly contested see-saw battles. Once the set approached the 18th or 19th point, one team would create distance en route to a win. Unfortunately, on this night Livingstone held the advantage.
J.C. Smith won their only set by the biggest margin of victory (25-18). Freshman outside hitter
Amber Alexander (Miami, FL) showed plenty of elevation in producing a team-high seven kills. Freshman middle hitter Shaquana Jackson (Greensboro, NC) tallied six kills for the JCSU offensive attack.
Sophomore setter
Kayla Bazemore (Fayetteville, NC) recorded a team-high eight assists and two digs.
Phylicia Egbuna dominated for the Lady Blue Bears with 23 kills.
JCSU will stay at home for their next match against Augusta State University. This non-conference matchup is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. inside Brayboy Gymnasium.
