JCSU VOLLEYBALL STILL BATTLING FOR FIRST VICTORY AFTER TWO-DAY HOME TOURNAMENT

Lady Golden Bulls 0-3 against elite competition

Charlotte, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University women's volleyball team dropped matches to Brevard College, Assumption College, and Palm Beach Atlantic University in the first JCSU Volleyball Invitational inside Brayboy Gymnasium on Friday and Saturday. The Lady Golden Bulls fell in all three matches in three sets (0-3).

Fellow CIAA divisional foe Fayetteville State University and nearby Johnson and Wales University also participated in the tournament. JCSU took on Brevard and Assumption on day one, and then challenged the eventual champion Palm Beach Atlantic on day two.

Freshman Shaquanna Jackson (Greensboro, NC) led the team over the weekend with 10 kills with .200 hitting percentage. Senior captain Jennifer Williams (Mitchellville, MD) had eight kills, 12 digs, and one service ace. Sophomore setter Kayla Bazemore (Fayetteville, NC) recorded 17 assists and seven service aces; while sophomore libero captain Sharelle Hatley (Durham, NC) had a team-high 17 digs.

J.C. Smith gets right back to action on Sunday, September 4th against Fayetteville State University. Match play is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. inside Brayboy Gymnasium.
