Complete Game notes

THE EVENT: Johnson C. Smith currently stands in second place in the CIAA Southern Division. The team that sits atop the division is this week's opponent. The Winston-Salem Rams enter this contest unbeaten at 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference. WSSU opened their dvision schedule last weekend with a 56-20 win against Fayetteville State at home. Meanwhile, the Golden Bulls are looking to recover from the 35-7 let down versus D-I FCS opponent Davidson College. JCSU is in position to play spoiler during the Rams' homecoming and make a statement as a serious contender for the CIAA title. Players to Watch: JCSU freshman quarterback Keahn Wallace leads the conference in passing (255 yards per game) and total offense (1279 yards); WSSU running back Nicholas Cooper leads the CIAA in rushing (151 yards per game) and scoring (2 TDs per game).

THE SERIES: This will be the second clash for both head coaches. In their initial showdown last season, Coach Maynor and the Rams earned a 49-3 victory inside Memorial Stadium. Prior to last year, the Golden Bulls tangled with Winston-Salem State in 2005, before WSSU received DI-AA status. JCSU was trumped 28-9 in Winston-Salem, NC. This series dates back to 1944, when the contest resulted in a 6-6 tie. WSSU has the advantage in the rivalry 38-21-3 and have won the last nine match-ups. J.C. Smith last defeated the Rams in 1996, 14-6.
