JCSU led by double digits the entire second half

Charlotte, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University women's basketball team dominated Fayetteville State University en route to an 80-55 victory on Saturday afternoon inside Brayboy Gymnasium. JCSU improves to 14-3 overall, 8-0 in the CIAA, and 2-0 in the Southern; while the Lady Broncos move to 7-9 in the standings, 1-6 in the conference, and 0-2 in the division.

This contest was pretty much in hand for Johnson C. Smith from beginning to end. JCSU led by as much as 18 in the first half, before concluding the period up 49-35. The Golden Bulls shot 48.6% (18-37) from the floor in the opening, including 2-of-5 shooting from the three point line.

The senior dynamic duo of Shavonda Price (Fort Wayne, IN) and LaQwesha Gamble (Winter Haven, FL) were unstoppable in the first half. Price had the hot hand with 21 points, followed by Gamble with 10 points and three rebounds.

JCSU held Fayetteville State to just 25% (6-24) shooting from the field in the second half. Meanwhile, the Golden Bulls elevated their performance to 52% (13-25) from the floor. FSU was outscored 40-28 in the paint and 34-20 off turnovers.

Price had the game-high in scoring with the same 21 points. Gamble closed in on a double-double of 12 points and 11 boards. Tonight was her eighth double-double in 17 games played. Senior guard Terran Quattlebaum (Mitchellville, MD) chipped in 15 points and sophomore center Racquel Davis (Bamberg, Germany) collected 10 points and five boards.

Tashama Banner and Alicia Person were the top producers for the Lady Broncos with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
