Charlotte, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University men's basketball team beats Claflin University 70-60 in a non-conference contest on Saturday evening at Brayboy Gymnasium. JCSU improves to 4-1 overall, while the Panthers fall to 2-4 in the standings.
The first half was a seesaw battle with the Golden Bulls coming out on top 26-23 at the half. JCSU shot an impressive 55.6% (10-18) from the field, compared to 34.5% (10-29) shooting for Claflin. The Panthers fell behind by getting outscored 18-12 in the paint. Sophomore forward
Emilio Parks (Ashtabula, OH) led the way with 11 points off 5-of-6 shooting in the opening.
Aside from a three-pointer from David Glover to tie the game 28-28, the second half totally belonged to JCSU. The Golden Bulls eventually built a lead as large as 19 points (66-47) with less than four minutes to play. The team improved their shooting to 60% (15-25) in the second half to match a season-best 58% (25-43) for the evening.

Antwan Wilkerson (Greensboro, NC) finished with a game-high 18 points, along with five rebounds, two assists, and a block.
Emilio Parks followed with 16 points and five boards. Senior guard
Trevin Parks (Hickory, NC) chipped in 13 points and three assists.
Michael Henry paced the Panthers with a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds.
JCSU will now prepare to travel to nearby Wingate University for their next game on Saturday, December 8th. Game time is slated for 4:00 p.m. inside Bulldogs Arena.
