RASHAD DUKES AND DARRYL RANKIN SET TO PLAY IN THE “D2 VERSUS NAIA SENIOR BOWL”

Opportunity to gain more exposure

New York, NY – Johnson C. Smith University seniors Rashad Dukes and Darryl Rankin have been announced to the player's roster for the 2nd annual “D2 vs. NAIA Senior Bowl to be played on Saturday, December 15th, 2012 at Doug Shaw Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

Dukes, a defensive tackle from Charlotte, NC, recorded 27 tackles (13 solo), two sacks, and two quarterback hurries. His best season was his junior season when he tallied 44 tackles, nine tackles for a loss of 29 yards, and three and a half sacks. Dukes has been a three-year starter for the Golden Bulls on the defensive line.

“I'm anxious for this opportunity to earn another opportunity,” commented Dukes on playing in the bowl game. “I'm hungry and ready and I hope this leads to another open door.”

Rankin, a linebacker from Charlotte, NC, has 28 tackles (18 solo), two sacks, one interception, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery, which was returned 95 yards for a touchdown. He tied for second on the team in interceptions and fumble recoveries. Rankin was named CIAA Linebacker of the Week for the week ending October 13th. He was also selected by the Charlotte Touchdown Club for the Bronko Nagurski Award for Division II student-athletes.

The NAIA team will be coached by the combined staff of Waldorf College (IA) and Edward Waters College (FL). The team will be led by Kent Anderson (Waldorf) as the Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator and Alvin Wyatt (Edward Waters) as Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator. “We are excited to have the two staffs combined to represent the south and mid-west regions of NAIA football in our country”, stated Peter St Lawrence, Co-Founder of the Game.

The coaching staff for the Division II team has not been announced.
