JCSU having a tough non-conference stretch

Results vs. Wingate

Charlotte, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University women's tennis team was defeated 9-0 by Wingate University in non-conference action at the Coleman/Cuthbertson Tennis Courts on Friday afternoon. JCSU moves to 0-5 overall in the standings.

JCSU went 0-3 in doubles play against Wingate. The sophomore duo of Keiana Love (Wilson, NC) and Imani Morrison (New York, NY) dropped the No. 1 flight 8-0 to Ali Evers and Becca Thomas. The Lady Bulldogs won No. 2 and No. 3 doubles by a count of 8-1. Seniors Rolanda Sue (Charlotte, NC) and Camille Allen (Teaneck NJ) lost to Olivia Poole and Tiffany Williams, followed by freshman Nichelle Heard (Douglasville, GA) and sophomore Felicia Akande (Winston-Salem, NC) losing the last doubles match.

Wingate swept the singles' matches 6-0 to pick up a 9-0 victory over the Golden Bulls. The same six competitors from doubles took the court in singles for JCSU.

JCSU women's tennis will return to action on Saturday, February 25th against Barton College at home. Match play is slated for 2:00 p.m. the Coleman/Cuthbertson Tennis Courts on the campus of JCSU.
