Seven seniors acknowledged after the game

Box Score Charlotte, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University women's basketball team trampled Livingstone College 78-55 in the regular season finale on Saturday evening inside Brayboy Gymnasium. JCSU will enter the CIAA Tournament with a 20-5 overall record, 14-2 in the CIAA, and 8-2 in the Southern; while the Lady Blue Bears move to 7-21 overall, 2-14 in the conference, and remain winless at 0-10 in the division.

This contest was a beginning to end domination for the Golden Bulls. By halftime, JCSU held a 43-26 lead, shooting 44% (15-34) from the field. Senior guard Terran Quattlebaum (Mitchellville, MD) had the hot hand with a first half-high of 16 points, including 4-of-7 shooting (57%) from the three point line.

There were no lead changes or ties in the game; JCSU led by as much as 34 points in the second half. The Golden Bulls won the rebounding battle 49-37 and outscored Livingstone 36-24 in the paint and 24-13 off turnovers.

Quattlebaum finished with a game-high 25 points. Fellow seniors and All-CIAA selections Shavonda Price (Fort Wayne, IN) and LaQwesha Gamble (Winter Haven, FL) added nine and seven points, respectively. Gamble also grabbed 13 rebounds, dished out five assists, and had three blocks.

April Smith (Auburn, AL), Terrica Jones (Raleigh, NC), Ashley McGee (Milwaukee, WI) and Phyllis Jenson (Los Angeles, CA) were the other four seniors recognized for the dedicated play in the Blue and Gold. Smith, Jones, and Quattlebaum spent all four years of their collegiate career at JCSU. They have the most wins in team history with 84.

Johnson C. Smith will await the official announcement of the 2012 CIAA Tournament Bracket for the date and time of their matchup. JCSU will enter the tournament as the No. 2 overall seed.
