Golden Bulls lose in semifinals to No. 1 seed

Ettrick, VA – The Johnson C. Smith University women's tennis team were swept 5-0 against top seeded Shaw University on Friday afternoon during the semifinals of the 2012 CIAA Tournament held at the VSU Tennis Courts. JCSU concludes the season 12-13 overall and 11-5 in the CIAA.

The Golden Bulls lost all three doubles matches by identical 8-0 scores. Shaw won the contest with victories by number two singles player Jessica Medina and number one singles/CIAA Player of the Year Lolia Kienka reported their wins.  Medina topped sophomore Imani Morrison (New York, NY) 6-0, 6-0, while Kienka defeated sophomore Keiana Love (Wilson, NC) 6-1, 6-0.

Shaw will now face defending champions Winston-Salem State who defeated Virginia State 5-0 in the championship match, which will be contested Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the tennis courts on the campus of Virginia State.

Seniors Camille Allen (Teaneck, NJ) and Rolanda Sue (Charlotte, NC) bid farewell to their collegiate tennis careers and prepare for graduation on May 6th.
