Leford Green and
Shermaine Williams have become the first track and field athletes from Johnson C. Smith University to qualify for the Olympics since Hall of Famer Vince Matthews competed in the 1972 Munich Olympics. If you were unable to watch their races over the weekend, here are YouTube links for both.
Green (St. Catherine, Jamaica) stamped his ticket to the 2012 London Summer Olympics by winning the men's 400 meter hurdles title with a time of 48.88. He will run for Jamaica in the 400m H event, which is slated to begin on Friday, August 3rd.

Williams (St. Andrew, Jamaica) qualified for a spot on the Jamaican National Team by finishing third in the women's 100 meter hurdles final. She recorded a time of 12.78 to become the first ever female Olympian from JCSU. Round one of the women's 100m hurdles at the 2012 London Summer Olympics is scheduled to begin on Monday, August 6th.
