Inaugural game to draw scouting interest

Greenville, SC – Johnson C. Smith University senior football student-athletes Michael Coats (linebacker), Hayward Martin, Jr. (linebacker), Jordan Mosely (offensive lineman), Cameron Ransom (offensive lineman), and Quintel Talton (defensive lineman) have all been selected to participate in the Inaugural South Carolina College All-Star Bowl. The game is scheduled to be played on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at North Greenville University with a 3:00 p.m. kickoff.

The SC College All-Star Bowl gives players the opportunity to compete and showcase their talents in front of a huge local and regional audience. This matchup of the best college seniors from South Carolina will be televised live across the region. Players that are playing at any of the 12 South Carolina Colleges are eligible for selection as well as those players that played high school football in the state of South Carolina and are playing college football anywhere across the country.

All five Golden Bulls selected are natives for South Carolina and played high school football there.

The game will be televised across South Carolina, North Carolina, and Northern Georgia. This will be the last college football game of the year, strategically played after the Super Bowl and NFL Combine, and before the NFL Draft. This game provides a special blend of the SC Upstate vs. Low Country mentality rivalry (divided by Interstate 20) allowing fans to see players play one more time. The game allows the players to showcase their skills for scouts from the NFL, CFL, and AFL.

Sam Wyche (Former NFL Head Coach of the Year) is the Commissioner, Heisman Trophy winner George Rogers serves as a member on Board of Directors, and coaching legends Danny Ford and Willie Jeffries will coach the game.

South Carolina puts more professionals into the NFL than just about every other state in the country. This game celebrates South Carolina athletes and gives the opportunity to establish an annual regional champion. Proceeds from the contest will benefit “Meals on Wheels,” which provides meals, companionship and supervision to thousands of South Carolina residents daily.
