Senior center George Orr and the Golden Bulls outscored Central State 20-0 in the second half for a 26-24 season finale victory

Wilberforce, OH – The Johnson C. Smith University football team scored 20 unanswered points in the second half for a 26-24 non-conference win over Central State University on Saturday, November 9th at McPherson Stadium. JCSU finishes the season 5-5 overall and 2-5 in the CIAA, while the Marauders move to 2-8 overall.
Central State held a 21-0 lead midway through the second quarter. Sophomore running back
Kyle Gregg (Charlotte, NC) put the Golden Bulls on the scoreboard with a 10-yard touchdown run. JCSU missed the extra point and trailed 21-6. The Marauders drove into field goal range and kicked a 23 yarder before halftime.
JCSU faced a 24-6 deficit at halftime. The Golden Bulls rallied back in the third quarter and closed the gap. Junior quarterback
Keahn Wallace (Miami, FL) connected with junior receiver
Avius Capers (Charlotte, NC) for a 10-yard touchdown reception. Wallace later had a one yard quarterback keeper to cross the goal line. The Marauders lead was cut down to 24-20 going into the fourth quarter.
Neither offense produced points until the final two minutes of play. Junior quarterback
Andrew Alexander checked in for an injured Wallace. Alexander hit Gregg in the flats for a 66 yard TD pass with 1:35 remaining in the game. The score gave the Golden Bulls their first lead of the contest.
The Golden Bulls' defense held steady and ensured victory for JCSU.
JCSU concludes their third straight non-losing season. This feat has not been accomplished at Johnson C. Smith since the 1971-73 seasons.
