JCSU men's basketball will face Queens (NC) on Monday, December 2nd at the Curry Arena inside the Levine Center at 7:30 p.m.
Charlotte, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University men's basketball will clash with nearby rivalry Queens University of Charlotte on Monday, December 2nd at 7:30 p.m. inside the Curry Arena at the new Levine Center. JCSU has a 5-1 record, while the Royals hold a 2-3 mark in the standings.
Senior guard
Robert Williams (Atlanta, GA) and junior guard
LaMarquis Letchaw (Dallas, TX) each lead JCSU in scoring with a 15.5 point per game average. Both were recognized for the week ending November 23, 2013 as the CIAA Player and Newcomer of the Week, respectively.
Junior forward
Emilio Parks (Ashtabula, OH) and senior forward
Antwan Wilkerson (Greensboro, NC) are also both averaging double-doubles. Parks is averaging 13 points and 5.8 rebounds per contest. Wilkerson leads the team in field goal percentage (55.6%) and averages a double-double of 11.5 points and 10.8 boards.
Despite a 2-3 start for the Royals, Queens has four starters averaging double figures in points. Jarrett Stokes leads the team with 19 points per game. Brent Evans, Joby Glymph, and Josh Clyburn are also recording double digits each contest. Evans has averaged 13 points and 10.6 rebounds in the five games played this season.
These two teams last met on November 20, 2012 in Brayboy Gymnasium on the campus of JCSU. The Royals pulled out an 87-80 win on the Golden Bulls home floor. Queens also defended their home court on November 30, 2011 with a 75-70 victory. This will be the first time these two teams have played in the new Curry Arena at the Levine Center.
General admission is $9.00. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
