JCSU women's basketball will face Paine College for the second time this season on Saturday, December 7th at 5:30 p.m. inside Brayboy Gymnasium
Charlotte, NC -- The Johnson C. Smith University women's basketball team will compete against the Paine College Lady Lions on Saturday, December 7th in a non-conference contest at Brayboy Gymnasium. The Golden Bulls enter this matchup with an overall record of 2-4 while the Lady Lions currently hold a 1-5 record in the standings.
Senior guards
Karnina Bunch (Vicksburg, MS) and
Deanna Downer (Elberton, GA) lead the team in scoring. Bunch averages 15.6 points per game and Downer has an equally impressive average of 14.3 points per game.

Marquesha Sparks (San Fernando, CA) leads the team with 20 total rebounds and received CIAA Newcomer of the Week honors for the week ending November 30th. Freshman
Kaila Duarte (Boston, MA) also earned CIAA weekly honors as the Rookie of the Week for her performance against North Greenville. She produced 14 points and nine boards; one rebound shy of her first double-double.
Paine has two starters averaging double digits per game in scoring, including junior guard Ashley Watts scoring an extraordinary 32.2 points per game.
The Paine College Lady Lions hosted the initial clash this season against JCSU on November 21st in Augusta, GA. The Golden Bulls squeezed past the Lions in a close 73-72 and will look for a season sweep on their home court. JCSU is also unbeaten this year in Brayboy Gymnasium, topping North Greenville in their only home contest.
Admission is free for the general public and JCSU students. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
