Charlotte, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University men's basketball team charges ahead in the second half for a 76-68 victory over Saint Augustine's University on Wednesday night at Brayboy Gymnasium. JCSU improves to 16-7 overall, 9-4 in the CIAA, and 5-2 in the Southern; while the Falcons fall to 15-8 overall, 8-5 in the conference, and 5-2 in the division. This win also gives JCSU a share of first place in the division.
The Falcons out-muscled JCSU in the first half. The Golden Bulls lost the rebounding battle 26-10 in the opening and shot 37% (7-19) from the floor. Meanwhile, SAU had a 41% shooting performance in the first and led 35-28 at the break.
In the second half, the story from the beginning, middle, and end is senior guard
Trevin Parks (Hickory, NC). Parks shot 82% (9-11) from floor, including five of seven (71%) from the three-point line and 90% (9-10) from the foul line. JCSU began to pull away from the Falcons around the six minute mark.
Parks ended the night with a game and career-high 41 points, along with four boards and three assists. Sophomore forward and reigning CIAA Newcomer of the Week

Marcus Walker (Raleigh, NC) tallied eight points and eight boards.
“Trevin played like he simply didn't want the team to lose tonight,” said JCSU head coach
Stephen Joyner, Sr. “He did more facilitating in the first half and then played more aggressive in the second half. Marcus (Walker) also gave us a solid contribution with his rebounding efforts. Every game from here on out is important.”
JCSU outscored the Falcons 48-33 in the second half and shot an efficient 64% (14-22) from the field. The Golden Bulls also connected on 15-of-17 (88%) free throw attempts. SAU shot 36% (12-33) in the final half and 39% (24-62) for the game.
Tyquan Stroman led the Falcons with 16 points, followed by Percy Woods with 13 points and four assists.
The Golden Bulls will play their final home game of the regular season against rival Livingstone College. Game time is slated for 6:00 p.m. at Brayboy Gymnasium. Seniors
