Results vs. ECSU

Winston-Salem, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University women's tennis team swept Elizabeth City State University 5-0 on Friday afternoon during the CIAA cross-divisional roundup hosted by Winston-Salem State at Hanes Park. JCSU improves to 1-8 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

Sophomore Rankin Anderson (Decatur, GA) and freshman Khadijha Battle (Atlanta, GA) won number one doubles 8-0 over Valerie Edwards and Samantha Craig. Senior Samantha Barnes (Hampton, VA) and junior Keiana Love (Wilson, NC) followed up with an 8-0 victory in number two doubles. ECSU did not have a number three doubles team, so the point was awarded to junior Felicia Akande (Winston-Salem, NC) and sophomore Nichelle Heard (Douglasville, GA).

In singles action, the number one, three, four, and five matches went unfinished. Love beat out Edwards 6-0 in both sets in number two singles. Barnes won number six singles to give JCSU a 5-0 win.

The next match scheduled for the Golden Bulls is Thursday, February 21st against Saint Augustine's University. Match play is slated for 2:00 p.m. in Raleigh, NC.
