JCSU men's basketball is ranked No. 9 in the NCAA DII Atlantic Region according to the Feb. 20th release
NCAA DII Regional Rankings
Indianapolis, IN – The Johnson C. Smith University men's basketball team holds the No. 9 spot in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region according to the lately NCAA regional ranking released February 20th. JCSU is currently 16-8 overall and 15-8 in-region. The Golden Bulls are one of three schools from the CIAA ranked in the region.
The regional rankings are used to determine who will qualify for the NCAA DII Tournament. The top eight teams in the region go to the tournament, with the top-ranked team in the region hosting the first three rounds of the tournament.
West Liberty University (21-1) is ranked first, followed by Winston-Salem State; Fairmont State is third, East Stroudsburg is fourth and Indiana (PA) rounds out the top five. Divisional rival Livingstone is ranked sixth.
JCSU will have an opportunity to improve their ranking when they face the Rams of Winston-Salem State University on Wednesday, February 20th. WSSU is ranked No. 7 in the nation (NABC) and second in the region. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. inside the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
