Golden Bull sparks professional career

Charlotte, NC – Former Johnson C. Smith University football student-athlete Jordan Mosely has been announced as a new member of the Northern Kentucky River Monsters of the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL).

Mosely is a 6'3, 305 pound, menacing offensive lineman from Columbia, SC. He started all 11 games for the Golden Bulls football program at the left tackle position his junior season in 2011 and then moved to left guard his senior season to start all 10 games in 2012. Behind the protection of Mosely, the JCSU offense has totaled nearly 3,900 yards both seasons and had their first 1,000-yard rusher since 1991 this past season.

He was selected to play in the 2012 FCS Senior Bowl and received an invite to the New York Giants rookie camp held in May of this year.

The Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) is an indoor football league based along the Midwestern United States region. It began play in April 2006 as the Great Lakes Indoor Football League (GLIFL).

The CIFL consists of seven teams. Teams have been divided amongst the North and South Divisions with four teams in the North (Detroit Thunder, Erie Explosion, Port Huron Patriots, and Saginaw Sting) and three teams in the South (Dayton Sharks, Kentucky Xtreme, and Northern Kentucky River Monsters). Each team is allowed a maximum of twenty-five players on their roster, but may only dress twenty-one to play each week during the regular season.

"Jordan was a young man that after watching film and talking to our coaching staff, I felt strongly we had to have him here with us," said River Monsters' head coach Brian Schmidt. "Talking to Jordan just enforced my belief we are getting an outstanding football player and outstanding young man."

Since 2013, the CIFL season features the following schedule: a 10-game, 12-week regular season running from February to April; and a six-team single-elimination playoff beginning in April, culminating in the CIFL Championship Game in May.

"I'm extremely blessed and happy to be a part of the River Monsters," said Mosely. "The goals of Coach Schmidt and Coach Goodpaster match mine flush. We all want to win games this upcoming season and bring a league championship to the River Monsters' organization. I love the game of football with all my heart and soul, so when the opportunity was presented to me, and seeing the raw passion the organization had in pursuing me, it was a no brainer to sign with the team. I'm ready to work and win the CIFL title in 2014! Period."
