JCSU MEN’S BASKETBALL TAKES ON THE ECSU VIKINGS ON JANUARY 11TH FOR A TELEVISED AUDIENCE

– The Johnson C. Smith University men's basketball game against Elizabeth City State University on Saturday, January 11th, will be televised live by ASPiRE. For those locally in Charlotte with Time Warner Cable, ASPiRE is channel 288.

The contest will be played at the R.L. Vaughan Center on the campus of Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth City, NC. Game time is 4:00 p.m.

JCSU women's basketball will square off against the Lady Vikings at 12:30 p.m. Their game will not be televised, however. For those planning to attend the basketball doubleheader admission is only $1 with a non-perishable item in support of the Food Bank of the Albemarle.

The Golden Bulls men's basketball team is looking to rebound from a two-game winless skid. Most recently, JCSU suffered a 72-69 overtime road loss to CIAA Northern foe Chowan University. Despite the loss, the Golden Bulls carry an overall record of 10-4 and a 2-2 conference mark.

Four players are averaging double figures in points for JCSU led by junior forward Emilio Parks (Ashtabula, OH). Parks is producing 17.7 points and eight rebounds per contest. In the CIAA, Parks ranks seventh in scoring and fourth in rebounding.

Junior guard LaMarquis Letchaw (Dallas, TX) and senior forwards Robert Williams (Atlanta, GA) and Antwan Wilkerson (Greensboro, NC) are also contributing double digits in points. In addition to scoring, Wilkerson is averaging 8.9 boards per game; ranks first on the team and second in the CIAA.

The ECSU Vikings will definitely prove to be a tough opponent. ECSU is 7-7 overall, 2-2 in the conference, and 4-2 at home. The Vikings have won their last two games, including a 94-90 overtime victory over regionally ranked Livingstone College.
