JCSU Blows Out Johnson & Wales, 95-49

Box Score Charlotte, N.C. (Nov. 21, 2014) – Johnson C. Smith basketball  shot 59.4%, including a 64.3% mark in the first half to down Johnson & Wales 95-49 in front of a raucous crowd at Brayboy Gym in the Wendy's/Claude Saunders JCSU Tip-Off Classic

Robert Davis, III (Salisbury, N.C.)  put JCSU up 19-12 with a slicing drive down the lane following a JWU turnover.  The Golden Bulls would extend the lead to 25-12 following a pair of free throws from Stedmon Lemon (Lithonia, Ga.)
Johnson & Wales cut the lead to 29-22 at the under-five media timeout with a shot by DeQuincey Bennett.   Bennett would cut further into the JCSU lead by converting on a four-point play, to bring the score to 31-26 JCSU.

Markell Lotharp's (Marshville, N.C.) tip-in extended the JCSU lead to 37-26 with 2:18 to play in the first half.  JCSU would embark on a 7-0 run late in the first half put the Golden Bulls up 44-26 at the break.

The Golden Bulls would start the second half on fire, bolting to a 62-29 lead of a fast break three-pointer from Davis, III, forcing a Wildcat timeout.  Malik Ford (Salisbury, N.C.) flushed a breakaway dunk to extend the JCSU lead to 84-47.  The Golden Bulls capped an 11-2 run over the last two minutes to provide the final.
JCSU was led by Lemon and Lotharp, as they each had 16 in the winning effort.  Raston Brown (Hephizibah, Ga.) added 14 and Davis, III had 11.

Johnson & Wales (3-3) was paced by DeQuincey Bennett's 18 points.

JCSU improves to 1-2 on the year and will meet Rollins College at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22.
