JCSU Women's Basketball Cruises Past Johnson & Wales, 82-51

Box Score Charlotte, N.C. (Dec.16, 2014) – The Johnson C. Smith women's basketball team had two players score in double-digits as the Golden Bulls took a 82-51 win over Johnson & Wales on Education Day at Brayboy Gym on Tuesday afternoon.

Alishia Mosley (Bass, N.C.) finished with 20 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead JCSU.  Mosley went 10-16 from the field in the win.  Amena Brent (Chicago, Ill.) had 14 points on a 5-6 shooting effort.  Brent also pulled down nine rebounds for JCSU.  The Golden Bulls' Kaylah Gholson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) also had a productive afternoon by scoring seven points while dishing seven assists.  LaKendra Wilkerson (Greensboro, N.C.) had nine points and three rebounds for JCSU.

The Golden Bulls were never threatened as they built a 35-24 halftime lead on the visiting Wildcats.  JCSU outscored JWU by 20 in the second half to take the 82-51 final.  JCSU forced 26 turnovers and converted those miscues into 23 points.  The Golden Bulls also held a 21-2 advantage in 2nd chance points and outrebounded JWU 43-30 on the afternoon.

Collectively, the Golden Bulls shot 47.2% (34-72) while Johnson & Wales went 19-53 for 35.8%.

The win improves JCSU to 8-1 on the year while Johnson & Wales falls to 3-9.

The Golden Bulls have completed their home schedule for the 2014 calendar year and will now turn their focus to Lynn University.  JCSU will travel to Boca Raton, Fla. To take part in the Lynn University Classic.  JCSU will play the host Fighting Knights on Saturday, Dec. 20 at 2:00 p.m.  JCSU will then take on St. Leo University in day two of the event on Sunday, Dec. 21 at Noon.
