Calvin Mason led JCSU with a 10th overall score of 159 (+15)
Charlotte, NC - The Johnson C. Smith University golf team placed fourth in the 2014 CIAA Southern Division Golf Tournament completed on Tuesday, March 11th. The Golden Bulls finished with a two-day score of +95 671 (330-341) at the Larkhaven Golf Course. JCSU hosted the tournament played on a par 72, 6,717-yard course.
Virginia State won the team competition with a score of 599 (+23). Fayetteville State shot a 638 (312-326) for second, followed by Chowan in third with a score of 645 (329-316).
Matt Genchi of Virginia State won the individual medalist honor with a two-day score of 145 (+1). Virginia State had five players to finish with top five scores. Aaron Bryant of Virginia State shot 72 on the second day to place second overall with a score of 148 (+4). Brandon Jobe of Fayetteville State finished out in third place with a score of 150 (74-76).

Calvin Mason (Suffolk, VA) leads JCSU with a 10th overall score of 159 (+15). Junior teammate
Johanan Edmeade (Virgin Island, U.S.) followed just behind for 11th with a score of 161 (80-81). Mason and Edmeade were 11th and 13th, respectively on day one.

Brencis Stanford (Greenwood, SC) finished out the tournament in 22nd overall, shooting 173 (+29). Sophomore Steven Graddick (Charlotte, NC) placed 26th with a score of 178 (86-92). Freshman
Lewis McKeliver (Bluffton, SC) rounded out the JCSU competitors, finishing 31st with a score of 214 (108-106).
These were the final team scores for the tournament. JCSU improved their team finish two spots compared to last season. The Golden Bulls placed sixth out of eight teams in 2013 CIAA Southern Divisional played at Pine Hollow Golf Course. JCSU finished eighth in 2012.

JCSU golf returns to the green on March 17th in the CIAA Northern Divisional Tournament hosted by Virginia State University at Lake Chesdin Golf Course in Lake Chesdin, Virginia.
