JCSU WOMEN’S BOWLING PLACES FIFTH AT THE THIRD CIAA DIVISIONAL ROUNDUP

Final matches before the CIAA Championships

Nags Head, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University women's bowling team finished 5th place in the Southern Division at the CIAA Roundup III held this weekend (March 14-16). The event was hosted by Elizabeth City State University.

The Golden Bulls managed to obtain victories against Shaw University, Livingstone College and Saint Augustine's University during the three-day competition. JCSU rolled a 690 to top the Blue Bears of Livingstone, who bowled a 583. JCSU also edged the Shaw Bears, who rolled a 680 on day one.

On day two of the roundup, the Golden Bulls pulled out a victory once again against Livingstone, who bowled a 531 compared to JCSU's 615. The third and final day of competition featured baker's matches. The Golden Bulls only defeated the Falcons of St. Augustine's 561-532.

Fayetteville State won the overall event with a total team pin count of 8,394 and a baker pin count of 3,427 for a total of 11,821 pins. Winston-Salem State finished second with a pin count of 10,150, Saint Augustine's placed third (9,955), Shaw place fourth (8,778) and JCSU placed fifth (8,959) to round out the top five teams.

Junior Brittany Rowe (Cincinnati, OH) had the highest game bowled and highest average for the Golden Bulls. Rowe averaged a team-high 150.90 in the roundup.

Seniors Kayla Bazemore (Fayetteville, NC) and Sabrina Johnson (Columbia, SC) averaged 122.80 and 121.11 over the three-day team competition.
