Danielle Williams ends the 2014 indoor season ranked No. 1 in the 60m, 50m hurdles and 200m on the TFRRS final performance list
Fairfax, VA – The Johnson C. Smith University women's indoor track and field team attempted to improve their qualifying measures for the 2014 NCAA Indoor Championships at the George Mason Last Chance Meet held at the George Mason Field House March 1-2.
Senior
Danielle Williams (St. Andrew, Jamaica) finished second in 7.42 followed by junior
Samantha Elliott (Kingston, Jamaica) in third with a season best time of 7.59 in the 60m. Williams and Elliott are ranked No. 1 and No. 8, respectively on the TFRRS final performance list for the 2014 NCAA indoor season.
Sophomore
Trudy-Ann Richards (St. Thomas, Jamaica) won her 60m heat (7.80); but did not advance to the final round. Richards is ranked No. 20 on TFRRS final performance list for the 2014 NCAA indoor season.
Williams claimed first in the 60m hurdles (8.30), while senior teammate
A'Tyan Kennedy (York, SC) finished third in a new personal best of 9.06. Richards placed fourth in the 200m (25.05, PB). She ranks 17th on TFRRS final performance list for the 2014 NCAA indoor season.
The women's 4x400m team of Elliott, freshman
Domenique Julius-Williams (Ontario, Canada), freshman
Crystal Campbell (St. Catherine, Jamaica), and sophomore
Tovea Jenkins (St. James, Jamaica) earned an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 3:47.44 (.09 second outside the school record). The time ranks No. 2 on TFRRS final performance list for the 2014 NCAA indoor season.
Danielle Williams ends the 2014 indoor season ranked No. 1 in the 60m, 60m hurdles and 200m on the TFRRS final performance list for the 2014 NCAA indoor season. All her standards exceeded the NCAA Division II automatic qualifying standards.
The 2014 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships will take place in Winston-Salem, NC on March 14-15 at the JDL Indoor Fast Track.
