Box Score 2 Charlotte, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University women's softball team split wins against Saint Augustine's University in a CIAA Southern Divisional doubleheader on Saturday, April 5th at Biddleville Park. JCSU lost the first game 7-1, but earned a 6-1 victory in game two. The Golden Bulls improve to 10-16 overall and 6-4 in the CIAA.
Game one remained scoreless until the top of the fourth inning. Freshman pitcher
Victoria Lopez (San Diego, CA) started on the mound. She only allowed three hits with no run in the first three innings. Daja White hit a RBI double to left field, scoring Meranda Zanni from second base. Lopez closed out the inning only allowing that one run.
JCSU produced three hits in the bottom of the fourth, including a triple from freshman shortstop
Jocelyn Hernandez (Bloomington, CA). However, the Golden Bulls failed to score a run. The Lady Falcons threw Hernandez out at home and then turned a double play to head to the fifth.
Saint Augustine's exploded with four hits and six runs at the top of the fifth. Asiaha Nicholson capped the scoring with a 2-RBI homerun to left field. JCSU trailed 7-0 until the bottom of the sixth inning. Freshman outfielder
Breanna Archibald (Wendell, NC) scored the only run for the Golden Bulls off an error by the second baseman.
Junior pitcher
Stacy Peralta (Brooklyn, NY) checked in and concluded the game with a 7-1 final. Hannah Stutts earned the victory for SAU on the mound with six strikeouts and one run scored.
The Golden Bulls totally reversed their fortune with two three-run innings in the second and fifth of game two. Sophomore catcher
Monique Jefferson (West Hills, CA) doubled to left field in the bottom of the second. Freshman first baseman
Miranda Ricafrente (Jacksonville, FL) batted Jefferson home with a single through the shortstop's legs. Freshman
Morgan Hasty (Salem, IN) belted a 2-RBI homer for the last hit and scores of the inning.
The Lady Falcons scored their only run in the top of the third. Taylor Walters hit a double to left and later scored off a single from Meranda Zanni. After scoreless third and fourth innings, JCSU added three runs to the scoreboard in the fifth. Sophomore second baseman

Lopez earned the 6-1 victory on the mound in game two.
JCSU immediately returns to action on Sunday, April 6th against Shaw University. First pitch in this divisional doubleheader is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at Biddleville Park.
