GOLDEN BULLS MEN’S TRACK AND FIELD TAKES 27TH AT 2014 DII OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

Three All-American honors garnered

Allendale, MI – The Johnson C. Smith University men's track and team produced nine points to place 27th out of 60 teams at the 2014 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships held at the Grand Valley State Track and Field Stadium on the campus of Grand Valley State University May 22-24. JCSU achieved All-American status for the 4x400m relay and two competitors in the 400m dash.

In the 4x400m relay, the foursome of sophomore Waynee Hyman (Warwick, NY), sophomore Patrick Campbell, freshman Joshua Cunningham (Ontario, Canada), and senior Rolando Berch (St. Andrew, Jamaica) finished the race in 3:09.08 (SB) for fifth place. Finishing fifth in the relay tallied four points for JCSU.

Berch and Cunningham both competed in the 400m and added five points collectively. Berch placed fifth with a season best time of 46.70 and Cunningham had a personal best of 46.81 for eighth place. Both achieved All-American honors for their performances.

Fellow CIAA institution Saint Augustine's University scored 104 team points to secure a second consecutive men's outdoor national championship. The Falcons have won 12 men's outdoor titles, all under head coach George Williams.

All four competitors earned All-American honors for the 4x400 relay. Berch and Cunningham received double honors for the 4x400 relay and 400m.
