JCSU Men's Basketball Clipped by St. Augustine's, 68-63
Box Score Raleigh, N.C. (Jan. 21, 2015) – The Johnson C. Smith men's basketball had three players score in double digits but it was not enough, as St. Augustine's took a 68-63 CIAA win at Emery Gymnasium on Wednesday, January 21.
Down only two at halftime, JCSU went more than four minutes without scoring midway through in the second half and St. Augustine's put together an 8-0 run during that span to put the game out of reach. JCSU did make it interesting late, closing the gap to 50-49 with 8:00 to play but St. Augustine's Quincy January thwarted the threat with a layup to make it 52-49. JCSU would get no closer the rest of the way as the Falcons took the 68-63 win.
JCSU got 14 points from
Stedmon Lemon (Lithonia, Ga.) and 11 from
Robert Davis, III (West Friendship, Md.).
Emilio Parks (Astabula, Ohio) netted 10 points.
Josh Linson (San Antonio, Tex.) scored nine points while hauling in eight rebounds.
St. Augustine's got 19 points from both Anthony Gaskins and Raheem Jolliffe while teammate Quincy January scored 16 and hauled in 12 rebounds.
JCSU falls to 9-10 overall, 3-5 in CIAA action while St. Augustine's improves to 8-9, 2-5 in league play.
The Golden Bulls will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 24 with a CIAA matchup at rival Livingstone.
