Men's Basketball Earns 72-68 CIAA Win at Virginia Union

Box Score Richmond, Va. (Jan. 5, 2015) –The Johnson C. Smith University men's basketball team had four players score in double figures to help the Golden Bulls take a 72-68 CIAA win at Virginia Union on Monday night.

JCSU's Diondre Pratt (Morven, N.C.)  went for 19 points, returning a 7-9 shooting performance, including a 2-2 mark from beyond the arc.  The junior also pulled down five rebounds for JCSU. Fellow junior  Alandre Davis (Florence, S.C.) netted 16 points and had a team-high eight rebounds for JCSU.  Davis also returned a 7-9 shooting output.  Stedmon Lemon (Lithonia, Ga.) had 15 points and five rebounds while senior Emilio Parks (Ashtabula, OH) posted 10 points.

The Golden Bulls hit for 52.9% for the game on 27-51 shooting.  The Golden Bulls went 5-9 (55.6%) from long-range and had a respectable 13-18 (72.2%) performance from the free throw line.

The Panthers were led by D'Andre Bullard's 13 points.  The only other Virginia Union player in double-digits was Ray Anderson, as he had 12 points in the losing effort.   As a team, Virginia Union shot 44.8% from the field (26-58), including a 7-20 (35%) output from three-point range.

The win improves JCSU to 7-7 (1-2 CIAA) while Virginia Union falls to 4-9 (0-3 CIAA) on the season.

JCSU returns to Brayboy Gymnasium on Thursday, Jan. 8 to host Chowan in the first home CIAA matchup of 2015.  Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
