High Octane Golden Bulls Trounce Glenville State, 117-96

Box Score Charlotte, N.C. (Nov. 14, 2015) - The Johnson C. Smith women's basketball team placed seven different players in double figures and had two players secure double-doubles en route to a 117-96 win over Glenville State in the CIAA-Mountain East Challenge at Brayboy Gym on Saturday afternoon

Senior post player Amena Brent (Chicago, Ill.) had a career game, scoring 28 points on a 12-for-16 effort and pulled down 12 rebounds. Brent also went 4-for-5 from the free throw line on the day.MaryAnna Moore (Laurens, S.C.) also had a double-double in her first outing wearing the Gold and Blue by posting 10 points and 10 rebounds on the afternoon.

Jaylaan Dillard (Raleigh, N.C.) would score 15 points after putting together a perfect 7-for-7 shooting effort. She also had three steals and dished two assists. Newcomer Krista White (Dayton, Ohio) and Sharon Uyinmwen (London, England) each had 14 points with Uyinmwen connecting for three long balls on the day.

Rounding out the double figure scoring for JCSU was Quinesha Lynch (Rocky Mount, N.C.) and Ashley Porter (Winston-Salem, N.C.) as they each had 12 points.
The Golden Bulls had to withstand an unbelievable shooting effort from the Pioneers in the first half, as GSC connected for 11 made three point baskets in the first half. All told, Glenville State hit 18-of-56 long balls on the afternoon getting five each from Julie Bishop and Brittany Jackson. All told, Glenville State shot 33.7% on the afternoon, going 32-for-95.

The 117 points put up by the Golden Bulls sets a new Brayboy Gym women's basketball record for most points scored in a game. It also marks the most points ever scored in a season opener for JCSU. In addition, it is the most points scored for since a 130-50 win over Livingstone in the 1990 CIAA Tournament.

JCSU (1-0) will take on Wheeling Jesuit in day two of the CIAA-Mountain East Challenge on Sunday, Nov. 15. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
