Joyner Chases Win No. 500 This Weekend at JCSU Tip-Off Classic

Charlotte, N.C. (Nov. 19, 2015) – The Johnson C. Smith men's basketball team will look to give head coach Stephen Joyner, Sr. his 500^th career win as the Golden Bulls host the JCSU Tip-Off Classic in Brayboy Gym.

Action starts on Friday as CIAA opponent Livingstone (0-2) takes on SIAC foe Benedict (2-0) at 5:30.  Following that game, JCSU will look to give Joyner the milestone 500^th when they take on Apprentice School (1-1) at 7:30 p.m.  Saturday's games will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Livingstone battling Apprentice and JCSU tangling with Benedict at 4:00 p.m.

The Golden Bulls enter the matchup with the Builders at 2-1 on the year after a narrow 95-92 road win at Carson-Newman on Wednesday night. Against the Eagles, JCSU shot 51.5% from the field (34-66) and forced 19 turnovers that led to 23 points.

Senior Stedmon Lemon (Lithonia, Ga.) scored a game-high 29 points on a 10-of-17 shooting effort from while fellow senior Diondre Pratt (Morven, N.C.) poured in 20 points. Alandre Davis (Florence, S.C.) and Robert Davis (West Friendship, Md.) each had 11 points and five assists in the win.
