Women's Basketball Heads to the IUP-Lodestar Classic This Weekend

Charlotte, N.C. (Nov. 25, 2015) – The Johnson C. Smith women's basketball team will seek to bounce back from their first loss of the season when it travels to the IUP-Lodestar Classic hosted by Indiana (Pa.) University.
The Golden Bulls (3-1), currently ranked ninth in the latest Atlantic Region poll, will play sixth-ranked Edinboro on Saturday, Nov. 28 at Noon. JCSU comes into the game after suffering their first loss of the season, 52-49 at USC Aiken on Monday night. Senior
Amena Brent (Chicago, Ill.) leads the Golden Bulls, averaging 13.5 points and 7-8 rebounds per game. Brent started the season hot, earning MVP honors and the CIAA-MEC Challenge by scoring 28 points and pulling down 12 rebounds against Glenville State. She followed that performance with a 16 point, 11 rebound outing against Wheeling Jesuit.

Ashley Porter (Winston-Salem, N.C.) is averaging 9.5 points and 7.5 rebounds while sophomore guard
Asha Jordan (Monroe, N.C.) has been scoring at a 9.8 point clip. Jordan also is averaging 4.3 assists per contest and is shooting 46.9% (15-32) from the field, including 31.3% from the three-point range.
The schedule gets no easier for JCSU, as a matchup with host Indiana (Pa.) looms on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. IUP also enters the game ranked as the Crimson Hawks hold a No. 7 ranking in the latest Atlantic Region Poll.
