Queens Drops JCSU Men's Basketball, 87-77

Box Score Charlotte, N.C. (Dec 1, 2015) – Queens had five players score in double-figures while hitting 13 three-pointers in a 87-77 win over Johnson C. Smith in men's basketball from the Levine Center on Monday night.
To start the game, JCSU was able to jump ahead 13-7 on the fourth-ranked Royals after a three pointer from
Stedmon Lemon (Lithonia, Ga.). The JCSU lead would get to eight points at 16-8 after another long ball from Lemon at the 13:07 mark. Queens would make a run, cutting the JCSU lead to 20-18 after a Kendall James three. The Royals would then take their first lead of the game, 21-20 on another three from James with 9:51 remaining.
The Royals were able to stretch their lead to 27-22 after a Todd Withers layup. JCSU would then get buckets from
Alandre Davis (Florence, S.C.) and Lemon to force the second tie of the game at 27-27 with 4:47 to play in the first half. Queens would again jump ahead by five points at 33-28 only to see JCSU battle back to within 33-32 after another Davis layup with 2:34 remaining. The Golden Bulls got a three pointer from
Dre Huntley (Monroe, N.C.) to cut the lead to 39-37 with 41 seconds to play but Queens Rob Lewis drilled a three pointer of his own to give Queens the 42-37 halftime lead.
Alandre Davis started off the second half with an easy layup to pull JCSU to within 42-39. After JCSU closed the gap to one point at 52-51 after a layup from Davis, Queens would take control, jumping ahead by nine points following a Todd Withers three pointer that made it 60-51 with 13:46 to play.
JCSU could get no closer than four points after Lemon canned two free throws to make it 63-59 at the 10:33 mark. Queens would then build the lead to 14 points at 78-64 and never looked back, taking the final 87-77 over JCSU.
Alandre Davis would finish with a double-double, 23 points and 14 rebounds while Lemon was the only other Golden Bull in double figures with 21.
Josh Linson (San Antonio, Tex.) and
Robert Davis (West Friendship, Md.) each had nine points for JCSU.
The loss drops the Golden Bulls to 4-4 while Queens improves to 7-0.
