JCSU Men's Basketball Coasts Past Virginia Union, 85-71

Box Score Charlotte, N.C. (Dec 19, 2015) - Stedmon Lemon led four JCSU players in double-figures as the Golden Bulls took an 85-71 CIAA win over visiting Virginia Union at Brayboy Gym on Saturday afternoon.

Lemon, a Lithonia, Ga. product, shot 12-of-19 from the field, including a 3-of-5 from long range to lead all players with 30 points. Teammates Joshua Linson (San Antonio, Tex.) andDiondre Pratt (Morven, N.C.) each had 14 points while sophomore Robert Davis (West Friendship, Md.) had 12 points. Both Linson and Davis dished out seven assists on the afternoon. JuniorChristian Williams (Chesapeake, Va.) led all players on the boards, finishing with nine rebounds.

Virginia Union collected 25 points from Ray Anderson while Devin Moore and Tavon Mealy were the other Panthers in double figures with 15 and 13 points, respectively.

JCSU (6-4, 2-0 CIAA) jumped ahead early 9-2 after two baskets, one of which was a long three pointer from Linson. JCSU would go ahead by as many as 15 in the first half at the 12:27 mark after Robert Davis connected on a three pointer to make it 25-10. Virginia Union cut the JCSU lead to six points at the 7:42 mark after a Devin Moore layup made it 28-22.

After leading 41-30 at the break, JCSU boosted the lead to 51-35, their largest of the game after a driving jumper from Lemon fell with 14:22 left. VUU could get no closer than six points the rest of the way as JCSU cruised to the 85-71 win.

The Golden Bulls will break for the holidays, with the next game scheduled for Jan. 2, 2016 as they host local rival Wingate in a non-conference matchup at 4:00 p.m. in Brayboy Gym.
