JCSU Men's & Women's Tennis Falls to Catawba

JCSU Sports Information

Charlotte, N.C. (Feb. 9, 2015) – The Johnson C. Smith men's and women's tennis teams both dropped nonconference matches to Catawba on Saturday, Feb. 7 in Salisbury.

The JCSU women received a point from Rankin Anderson (Atlanta, Ga.) after she earned a default win over Catawba's Kristin Rocko.  Michaela Colvin (Fayetteville, N.C.) dropped a tough 7-5, 6-2 match to Sarah Clasco at No. 6 singles.  Khadijah Battle (Atlanta, Ga.) also fell in a competitive match, 6-3, 6-4 to Sloan Kessler at No. 3 singles.

At no. 3 doubles, the duo of Colvin and Kaylin Roman (Atlanta, Ga.) fell 8-2 to Catawba's Rachel Rudisill and Andrea Bell.

In men's matches, JCSU's Tuan Ngyuen (Greensboro, N.C.) dropped his no. 4 singles match to Mitchell McDonald, 6-2, 6-1.  In doubles, the JCSU pair of Sharif Axam (Atlanta, Ga.) and Darrell Sawyer (Cincinnati, Ohio), fell in their no. 1 match to Jack Morday and Pierce Hoover by an 8-1 count

The Golden Bulls tennis teams will return to action on Feb. 15 at Wingate.
