Box Score Charlotte, N.C. (Sept. 24, 2015) – The Johnson C. Smith volleyball team opened the home portion of their schedule with a 3-1 (17-25, 25-15, 15-25, 19-25) loss to St. Augustine's on Thursday night.
JCSU fell behind 1-0 by losing the first set 25-17, but rallied to tie the match at 1-1 with a 25-15 win in set two. St. Augustine's took sets three and four to close out the match. The Falcons never trailed in the third set and dominated the fourth set to take the win.
JCSU got a 13 kill performance from
Salesse Stovall (Roanoke, Va.) while
Gracyn Doctor (Charleston, S.C.) registered nine kills in the match. Senior setter
Khadijah Segura (Minneapolis, Minn.) had 30 assists on the night while
Raven Bandy (Loganville, Ga.) contributed with 15 digs.
St. Augustine's was led by Mikayla Pettyjohn, as she had 15 kills for the Falcons.
JCSU returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 26, hosting Morris College in Brayboy Gymnasium at 1:00 p.m.
