JCSU Volleyball Drops 3-0 Road Match to Shaw

Box Score Charlotte, N.C. (Sept. 28, 2015)—The Johnson C. Smith volleyball team struggled to maintain a steady attack, falling to CIAA divisional foe Shaw, 3-0 (19-25, 17-25, 14-25) at Spaulding Gym on Monday night.

The Golden Bulls got five kills from Anteesha Smoots (San Antonio, Tex.), four from Salesse Stovall (Roanoke, Va.) and three from Makayla Adams (Michigan City, Ind.) in the loss.

Senior setter Khadijah Segura (Minneapolis, Minn.) had 14 assists on the night and contributed six digs.  Senior teammate Gracyn Doctor (Charleston, S.C.) also had six digs.

The loss drops JCSU to 2-10 overall, 1-4 in CIAA play while Shaw improves to 7-5, 3-2 in league action.

JCSU takes to the court on Thursday, Oct. 1 in nonconference action against Johnson & Wales University.  The match has been designated the Purple Match of Honor for the Emanuel 9.  Local nonviolence groups will be on hand to raise awareness and to advocate for nonviolence in our communities.

Match time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
