Box Score 2 Charlotte, N.C. (Sept. 4, 2015) – The Johnson C. Smith University volleyball team opened their 2015 season on Friday, taking two losses at the Falcon Classic in Misenheimer, N.C.
In the first match of the day against the host Pfeiffer Falcons, JCSU fell behind 2-0.  The Golden Bulls were able to rally in set three to cut the lead to 2-1, but Pfeiffer rebounded, taking the final set by a score of 25-13 to take the 3-1 (19-25, 16-25, 25-18, 13-25) final.  JCSU was led by freshman
 Anteesha Smoots (San Antonio, Tex.), who tallied seven kills.  Sophomore teammate 
Makayla Adams (Michigan City, Ind.) knocked down six kills while 
Khadijah Segura (Minneapolis, Minn.) had 17 assists.  Defensively, Adams had eight digs while senior 
Gracyn Doctor (Charleston, S.C.) had seven digs.
In the second match of the day, the Golden Bulls could not get their offensive attack going, falling to UVa.-Wise by a 3-0 (16-25, 8-25, 16-25) score.  Smoots again led JCSU with five kills while senior 
Salesse Stovall (Roanoke, Va.) tallied four kills in the loss.  Segura had 11 assists and five digs for JCSU in the match.
The Golden Bulls return to the floor on Saturday, Sept. 5 for the final day of the Falcon Classic, taking on Slippery Rock at 9:00 a.m. and Salem International at 1:00 p.m.
