JCSU Come's Back from 12 Point Deficit to Down FSU, 81-77

Box Score Fayetteville, N.C. (Jan. 16, 2016) – The Johnson C. Smith men's basketball team came back from a 12 point deficit inside the final six minutes of play to sneak away with an 81-77 CIAA Southern Division road win over Fayetteville State at Capel Arena on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Bulls found themselves on the short end of an 72-60 score at the 6:17 after FSU's William Tibbs converted two free throws.  JCSU them embarked on a 15-3 run to knot the game at 75-75 after Alandre Davis (Florence, S.C.) scored a layup at the 1:35 mark.  JCSU then got six straight points from sophomore Robert Davis (West Friendship, Md.) to provide the 81-77 final.

The Golden Bulls (8-8, 3-4 CIAA, 1-0 Southern Division) had four players in double figures, led by senior Stedmon Lemon (Lithonia, Ga.), as he finished with a team-high 17.  Robert Davis finished with 16 points and went a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line.  Alandre Davis had 13 points on a 6-of-7 outing while Diondre Pratt (Morven, N.C.) finished with 12.  Christian Kirchman (Roanoke, Va.) had nine points while knocking down two three pointers on the afternoon.

Fayetteville State (7-9, 2-5 CIAA, 0-1 Southern Division) was led by Jason Lee's 18 points.  Lee finished a perfect 9-of-9 from the field in the losing effort.  Michael Tyson had a double-double for the Broncos with a 17 point, 11 rebound outing.

JCSU will return to Brayboy Gym on Wednesday evening, hosting St. Augustine's in a Southern Division battle.  Tip is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
