JCSU Basketball Returns to Brayboy On Wednesday Night vs. St. Augustine's

Charlotte, N.C. (Jan. 19, 2016) – After being on the road for the past two weeks, the Johnson C. Smith men's and women's basketball teams will return to Brayboy Gym to host CIAA Southern Division foe St. Augustine's in a doubleheader on Wednesday, Jan. 20.  Tipoff for the women's game will be at 5:30 p.m. with the men to follow at approximately 7:30 p.m.

The JCSU men (8-8, 3-4 CIAA, 1-0 Southern) enter the game coming off an 81-77 road win at divisional foe Fayetteville State this past Saturday.  Against the Broncos, JCSU had four players score in double figures, getting 17 points and five rebounds from senior Stedmon Lemon (Lithonia, Ga.).  Sophomore guard Robert Davis (West Friendship, Md.) scored the last six points of the game as JCSU erased a 12-point deficit with 6:17 to play.  Davis would finish with 16 points while senior teammates 
Alandre Davis (Florence, S.C.) and Diondre Pratt (Morven, N.C.) had 13 and 12 points, respectively.

St. Augustine's (5-12, 0-7 CIAA, 0-1 Southern) enters on an eight-game losing skid after dropping a 75-56 road decision to Winston-Salem State.  Against the Rams, the Falcons got 20 points and 10 rebounds from sophomore Quincy January, his seventh double-double of the season. Teammate Keith Crawford managed 11 points, six assists and four rebounds in the loss.

The Golden Bulls women's team is smarting after stumbling to a 68-69 overtime loss at Fayetteville State.  JCSU (11-7, 4-3 CIAA, 0-1 Southern) suffered through 31 turnovers and managed to shoot only 27.4% on a 17-of-62 effort.  JCSU's Ashley Porter (Winston-Salem, N.C.) led the way, scoring a game-high 18 points in the loss.  Freshman A'Diyah Ussery (Shelby, N.C.) managed eight points while teammates Asha Jordan (Monroe, N.C.) and Quinesha Lynch (Rocky Mount, N.C.) each had seven.

St. Augustine's (3-14, 0-7 CIAA, 0-1 Southern) got 12 points from Sycoya Dorsey while Shanika Harris added 10 points for the Lady Falcons in a 74-41 loss to Winston-Salem State this past Saturday.
