JCSU Falls at Shaw, 108-93

Box Score Raleigh, N.C. (Jan. 30, 2016) – The Johnson C. Smith University men's basketball team had four players score in double figures but homestanding Shaw scored 62 second half points en route to a 108-93 win in Spaulding Gym on Saturday evening.

The Golden Bulls (10-10, 5-6 CIAA, 3-2 Southern) were led by Joshua Linson (San Antonio, Tex.) as he splashed down seven three pointers on the night to finish with 23 points.  Fellow senior 
Stedmon Lemon (Lithonia, Ga.) finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds while 
Alandre Davis (Florence, S.C.)
 and Christian Kirchman (Roanoke,Va.) each had 12 points in the loss.  Shaw (9-12, 6-3 CIAA, 2-2 Southern) got a game-high 25 points from Joell Hopkins, Jr., as he went 10-of-16 from the field and hauled down a team-high eight rebounds.

After being down only seven points (46-39) at the break, Shaw built the lead to 13 points (59-46) at the 15:55 mark after a David Madol free throw.  JCSU would carve into the lead, closing to within six points after Lemon made two free throws with 13:34 remaining.  JCSU would get no closer than that, as Shaw built their largest lead, 77-61 with 7:14 remaining and would not be threatened the rest of the way, taking the 108-93 win.

The Golden Bulls will look to regroup on Saturday, Feb. 6 by hosting Fayetteville State for Black Out Day.  JCSU fans are encouraged to wear black in support of Black History Month.
