Box Score Elizabeth City, N.C. (Jan. 9, 2016) – Elizabeth City State shot 44.4% from beyond the arc and forced 15 Johnson C. Smith turnovers to take an 81-71 CIAA win at the R.L. Vaughan Center on Saturday afternoon.
JCSU (7-7, 2-3 CIAA) got 20 points from senior

Joshua Linson (San Antonio, Tex.)After battling to an 11-11 tie over the first seven minutes of the game, Elizabeth City State surged ahead, building an 11 point lead after going on a 16-5 run over the next five minutes to claim a 27-16 lead after two John Tatum free throws.
The Golden Bulls then responded, by cutting the Viking lead to 36-33 after senior
Alandre Davis (Florence, S.C.) knifed through the Viking defense, dropping a layup in while getting fouled. Elizabeth City State would get a three pointer from Clayton Cowell with 22 seconds left to provide the 40-35 halftime margin.

, JCSU drew to within four at 45-41 at the 17:57 mark.
JCSU tied the game at 60-60 at the 7:07 mark with a layup from Pratt, but ECSU went ahead 62-60 at the 5:37 mark with a jumper from DeCarlos Anderson. After an offensive foul on JCSU, the Vikings stretched the lead to 64-60 after two free throws by Matthew McIntosh with 5:06 left. McIntosh then boarded a miss between two JCSU players on the next ECSU possession and converted the put-back to make it 66-60.
JCSU was able to close to 66-64 after two free throws from
Christian Kirchman (Roanoke, Va.) with 3:19 to play, but ECSU made a 12-2 run to put the game out of reach, sending JCSU to its third straight defeat.
The Golden Bulls will look to break the losing streak on Tuesday, Jan. 12 with a CIAA road contest at Virginia State.
