Box Score JCSU Volleyball Drops 3-0 Match to Livingstone

Charlotte, N.C. (Nov. 1, 2016) – Visiting Livingstone limited the Johnson C. Smith University attack to a .000 hitting percentage, taking a 3-0 (25-20, 28-26, 25-13) CIAA Southern Division win at Brayboy Gym on Tuesday night.

The Golden Bulls took a 12-8 lead in the first set, but Livingstone would tie the match at 15-15 and would then jump ahead 20-16 on an attacking error and never looked back, taking the first set 25-20 on back-to-back kills from Endea Woodle.

Set two saw the Golden Bulls take control early, building a 9-4 lead after a kill from
Makayla Adams (Michigan City, Ind.). Livingstone would then go on a 16-10 run to take the 20-19 lead after another JCSU error. The Blue Bears would jump ahead 23-19 but the Golden Bulls rallied to take a 24-23 lead after an ace from Maya Washington (West Columbia, S.C.). Threatened by a set point, Livingstone countered and would take the 27-26 lead and put the second set away with a Jekisha Rhymes kill to win 28-26 and taking the 2-0 lead.

In set three, Livingstone stormed out to a 9-1 lead and was never threatened, building the advantage to 20-10. The Blue Bears then closed the match on a Shantell Billups kill to provide the 25-13 win and the 3-0 final.

Livingstone improves to 8-15 overall, 5-9 in CIAA play at 2-6 in the Southern Division  while JCSU falls to 4-13, 2-10 in league play and 0-6 in divisional play.

Anteesha Smoots (San Antonio, Tex.) led the Golden Bulls with nine kills. Defensively, Georgina Diaz (Lincolnton, N.C.) had 11 digs while Azha McNeil (Fayetteville, N.C.) dished out 20 assists.
